
Dial-Up Networking on
Dreamcast
To configure Sega Dreamcast for
dial up access follow the instructions outlined below.
1. Insert the
Web Browser CD-ROM which came with your Dreamcast.
2. Turn the
Dreamcast's power on if you haven't already. After a few
seconds you should see the following three screens come up
in this order:
a) The
"Dreamcast" logo on a white background with a red
spiral.
b) The world
"PlanetWeb" logo on a mostly blue background.
c) "Sega
Dreamcast Network", with "(ENTER)" and "(E-MAIL)"
underneath it.
3. When that last
screen appears, push the Start
button. A menu of sorts should appear with a little house
labeled
Home in the middle.
4. When you use the
browser CD for the first time you will automatically be
taken to registration. If this is the case, where it says
sign up with AT&T select
No thanks, I have my own ISP.
Then continue with step 9. If no registration
5 . Use the knob in
the upper-left corner of the game controller to position the
cursor on
Options at the
lower-right corner of the menu which popped up when you hit
the Start button. You
will know it is positioned properly when the six-sided
Options selection
highlights with a bright lime-green outline.
6. Push the red
button on the upper-right of the game controller labeled
A
to select the highlighted
Options menu item. A new screen will appear with the
choices Internet Connection,
Email Account and
Display Settings.
7. Using the control
knob in the upper-left hand corner of the game controller,
position the cursor over
Internet Connection. It will highlight with a bright
lime-green border when the cursor is properly positioned.
8. Select
Internet Connection by pushing the red button labeled
A. A new screen will
appear which has three fields at the top labeled
Basic Info,
Dial Options and
Proxy Setting. You will
be on the Basic Info
fill-in form.
9. Using the knob
position the cursor over first field labeled
Your Real Name and select it with the red button. If
you don't have a keyboard attached to the Dreamcast, an
image of a typewriter keyboard will appear on the screen. By
positioning the cursor over each key in turn and hitting the
red button you can type in your name. When you are done
entering this field, select
CLOSE on the lower-right hand corner.
10. Enter your
Mundolink.Net usename under User
Login field, then your Mundolink.Net password on the
Password field. On the
Dial-Up number field type
the access number for your area. Metro Area users type
787-474-9980. Users outside Metro Area check
here
for your
access number. Leave the
Backup Number in blank. Then Dns fields enter the
information bellow:

DNS1:
196.12.161.1
-
DNS2:
196.12.161.2
11. Position the
cursor over the
OK choice and push the
red button. The screen will change to
Dial Options. Enter your
area code (787 or 939) in the field labeled
Area code you are dialing from.
Leave Long distance call prefix
, Call Waiting, and
Outside dial prefix
fields in blank. Then select
Tone dial, and set Dial
area code to On.
The option Blind dial
should be set Off.
12. Move the cursor
to
OK and push the red
button, this will change the screen to
Proxy Setting. Set the
Use Proxy choice to
No.
13. Again, move the
cursor over
OK on this
Proxy Setting screen and
hit the red button.
14. When you're done position
over
Save and hit the red
button to save your settings. The settings are saved inside
the Dreamcast, no memory card is needed for this option.
You
have configured Sega Dreamcast for dial up access. Enjoy
your Internet connection.
